B.A.F. – Bunker adjustment factor (adjustment to vary- ing fuel costs).
B/L – Bill of Lading (transport document showing the sea transport from point of departure to point of destination).
C.A.F. – Currency adjustment factor (Adjustments for currency exchange fluctuations).
C.F.S. – Container freight station (Storage facility from which collective containers are loaded to or from).
C.Y. – Container Yard (Place where loaded containers are sent for shipment or for inland transportation).
C.H. – Container Yard (Place where loaded containers are sent for shipment or for inland transportation).
C/S – Congestion surcharge (surcharge for waiting times in port) = “Congestion” of the port. Demurrage: “Storage fee”, when a container has remained in the container depot in the port or inland longer than the agreed-upon demurrage-free time. Detention: “Container rent”, when a container is not retur- ned to the shipping company after the agreed- upon “detention free” period has elapsed.
E.T.A. – Estimated time of arrival (scheduled ship arrival time).
E.T.D. – Hora estimada de salida. Hora programada de llegada del navío.
E.T.D. – Full container load (full container service).
FCL/FCL – Container sent from a shipper to a recipient.
FEU – Forty foot equivalent unit (40 foot container unit).
FCL/LCL – Deliveries from one shipper to multiple recipi- ents in one container.
FCR – Forwarding Agent Certificate of Receipt.
LCL – Less than container load.
LCL/LCL – Partial deliveries, which have been consolidated into one container in the container freight sta- tion and are later separated to be sent to the various recipients at the port of destination.
LCL/FCL – Deliveries of multiple shippers to one recipient in one container.
M.H. – Merchant’s Haulage: Inland transportation to and from the port is carried out by the shipping agent.
P.O.L. – Port of loading (loading port).
P.O.D. – Port of discharge (destination port).
Stripping – Unloading the container.
Stuffing – Loading the container.
TEU – Twenty foot equivalent unit (20’ container-unit).
T.H.C. – Terminal Handling Charge (Cargo handling charges for containers).
T/T – Loading the container.
WRS – War Risk Surcharge.
