Project Cargo involves the movement of goods that, due to their weight, size and complexity, cannot be containerised in many cases. This means that transport operations are more difficult to develop and require logistics operators to study how shipments are to be made and by what type of transport. All of this to guarantee a service in accordance with the weight and size of the loads, optimising time and distribution as much as possible.
Project Cargo requires a special shipping system in order to be efficient and to be able to meet the demands of the market. In addition, heavy transport is necessary to be able to supply all types of industries and thus avoid the lack of supply of international trade.
Stock Logistic is a logistics operator with more than 30 years of experience in the transport of heavy goods or Project Cargo. Thanks to its team of professionals in the logistics sector with extensive know how, we can guarantee all our customers both global coverage and adaptation to all types of industries. We have ISO 9001:2008 quality certification, which guarantees our commitment to prioritise customer satisfaction through continuous improvement criteria and efficient planning.
Types of cargo in Project Cargo
Depending on the goods to be transported, a distinction can be made between two types of cargo: extra-heavy cargo and oversized cargo. The former is indivisible cargo that exceeds the maximum authorised by the Ministry of Development for transport. On the other hand, oversized cargo is that which is larger than the approved dimensions and, therefore, adapted vehicles must be used or it must be transported in pieces.
Project Cargo and its modalities
- By sea: It is the most widely used because there are several models of specialised vessels for transporting large cargoes and goods with large dimensions. In addition, it is easier than other types of transport, thus improving operations.
- By land: These are trucks with specific modular platforms that allow goods to be transported from one place to another. At Stock Logistic we transport special goods, refrigerated containers (reefers), dangerous goods (ADR), gondola transports, crane trucks and tilting transports (20′ and 40′) for bulk material or iron and steel.
- By air: It is not so common, but there are various models of aircraft capable of adapting to the size and weight of the goods to be transported. By plane, unless it is a very specific item or urgent exceptions, it is not transported by this means.
Nowadays, Project Cargo is necessary to be able to transport heavy loads or loads that are difficult to ship because of the products they contain. Therefore, companies in the logistics sector have to adapt in order to be able to offer customers quality, fast and safe services.
